Isles Vs Rangers – Rounds Five And Six

March 5th, 2007 by Tom

The Isles and Rangers will meet twice this week in a home-and-home series that could have huge playoff implications. The Islanders currenlty own the 7th slot with 75 points, three ahead of No. 9 Montreal. The Rangers are on the outside looking in with 69 points.

As everyone knows, the Isles have dominated the season series thus far, taking all four games against the Garden Boys. None of that matters anymore. If the Islanders can take the remaining four, the Rangers are pretty much doomed. If they split, both teams should be OK. What the Islanders can’t allow is for the Rangers to win the majority of the remaining games. These games will all have a playoff-like atmosphere. That means the Isles must step up and show they can win when the spotlight is the brightest. They have the Rangers on the ropes, now they have to finish them off.

There’s a chance I might be at the game on enemy turf tonight. Hopefully my brother’s buddy comes through with a couple of tickets. If not, I’ll try and do a live blog from home.

The Season Series:

Jan. 9 – Isles win 5-3

Dec. 26 – Isles win 2-0

Dec. 19 – Isles win 4-3

Dec. 3 – Isles win 7-4

[UPDATE]

My brother’s guy came through. We’ll be at the game. Will try and file a report tomorrow morning. In the meantime, LET’S GO ISLANDERS!!!
