1-0 Isles after two at the Garden. DP is playing awesome with 36 saves and still 20 minutes to play. Tommy just called me from the game, the Ranger fans are getting restless but he found some Islanders fans nearby in case the natives go on the warpath.
Let’s backtrack to Saturday’s win in Washington. I missed the game because of men’s league playoffs (1-1 tie, won in shootout 2-0). I’ll point you over to Gary Harding of The View From Section 317 who attended the game with the NY Islanders Booster Club, and Eric from Off Wing Opinion who live blogged the game from the press box.
Finally, James Mirtle is becoming quite the Islanders fan, isn’t he?
Not that I’m looking to add any more grief for our already bereaved Edmonton Oilers fan friends, but has anyone noticed just how well Marc-Andre Bergeron has fit in on Long Island?
At first glance, he has two goals and seven points in his first six games as an Islander, and is a +6. He had the game-winner on the power play yesterday in Washington, and has averaged nearly 22 minutes a night under Ted Nolan.
Probably more importantly for everyone on the New York side of things, they’ve been winning, posting a 5-0-1 record with Bergeron in the lineup.
Damn. Before I could even hit “POST”, the Rangers tie the game 1-1 less than a minute into the third. Going to be a wild finish at MSG tonight.

James Mirtle Says
It’s probably too bad that it took them acquiring two Oilers for me to pay attention!
If the Isles can sneak into the playoffs, I think there’ll be quite a few Canadian fans rooting for them, and not just because of the Edmonton connection. Ted Nolan’s a much-loved guy up here.
