Who’s It Gonna Be?

To say that tonight’s game is a must-win would be the understatement of the year. The OrangeAndBlue have just four games remaining. A clean sweep could get them in the playoffs. Anything else and it’s time to get the clubs ready for Bethpage Black.
The Rangers stand in the Isles’ way once again. The Garden Boys have taken the last three against the Isles, all by 2-1 scores. The Isles lead the season series 4-3 but that, my friends, don’t mean squat. In their four victories, the Islanders have featured several offensive heroes. Viktor Kozlov scored four times back on Dec. 3, Mighty Jason Blake had a hatrick on Dec. 19, and Mike Sillinger had two goals on Jan. 9. In the seven contests, the Isles have scored 21 goals, but 18 of them came in the first four games. For the season, Kozlov and Miro Satan have the most points against the Rangers (6 apiece). Blake is tied with Kozlov for most goals (5).
Ryan Smyth has now played in three Islander-Ranger contests but has yet to notch a point. That has to change tonight. The Isles need the big guns to step up. We’re calling out Smyth, Yashin, Satan, Blake, Kozlov, Sillinger, et al. Bring some offense, be the first to the puck, play disciplined, and play hard for 60 minutes.
