One has to ask. Why??? Why would Alex even broach the subject? Was it his idea or his agent's? 2) We'd imagine he wants to saty on LI. Not for the money at this point(Even with a buy out he makes oodles, then he would most likely get a decent free agent contract from someone on top of that.) BUT we believe his wish to stay is for Carol Alt(Are they married?) Who is a LI native. 3) We believe taking the C would help him as it educes the pressure BUT his salary is what hurts more than his dearth of leadership. Removing his 7 million/year cap hit(instead a 2 mil/year buy-out hit) would help more than retaining a C-less Yashin. That 5 million savings can be used to upgrade the team as a whole.
