Islanders Jump 10 Spots in SI.com’s Power Rankings

November 7th, 2007 by Tom

SI.com writer Scott Wraight moved the Islanders up from 20th in his NHL Power Rankings to 10th before last night’s victory over the Rangers. Maybe the win will move them a couple of spots higher.

Here’s what Scott had to say about the Isles thus far this season:

Here’s where the bulk of my irate e-mails will come from: Isles fans wanting to know why their team isn’t above the so-so Blues … and even the Avs. And they’d be right — if I wasn’t so subjective with these rankings. But their sample size (11 games) is smaller than any other team’s, so it’s still a bit tough to get a read on Ted Nolan’s crew, though I’m starting to truly believe in Rick DiPietro.
