NHL Trade Deadline 08: MAB and Simon Gone

February 26th, 2008 by murph

James Mirtle is reporting Marc-Andre Bergeron is headed to Anaheim for a 3rd round pick, and Chris Simon is off to Minnesota for a 6th round pick. Looks like the Isles were sellers today, even after their 6 game win streak.

Anaheim has plucked defenceman Marc-Andre Bergeron from the Islanders for a third-round pick.

Bergeron is under contract for $1.2-million this season and next.

The Islanders have dealt Chris Simon to Minnesota for a sixth-round pick.

The 3pm trade deadline has passed, but sometimes there are deals that have been submitted but not announced yet. We’ll keep you updated.

Can’t say I don’t see the logic in parting with those guys. A bit surprised we didn’t get a second rounder for Bergeron but his play has been erratic.

So, this was Snow’s GRAND PLAN? Pick up a dreg like Davison, get rid of Bergeron who is at least scoring (unlike Hilbert) and keep together a team that lost 7 straight and is scraping just for a playoff spot? Yet, we keep people like DiPietro who is ranked at the bottom of NHL goalies, resign Comrie who is mediocre at best and make no aggressive moves to improve, arguably, the worst offense in the league? This is utter madness. Being an Islanders fan only has one advantage…you don’t have to worry about post season pressure.

    1) M-A B was a bit of a disapointment for you guys. he was supposed to be a PP specialist, but his defensive liability was too enormous to over look.
    2) Have to wonder why Nolan is so broken up over Simon’s trade. You’d think he’d be happy for him as it gives him a new life/higher chance of making the post season.
    3) Very surprised they didn’t/couldn’t trade Satan.

Yeah - I thought Satan was a goner for sure.
