Puff, Puff, Pass…Doobie Gets Another Start

March 6th, 2008 by murph

DP is back after dealing with the passing of a family member, but according to Newsday’s Greg Logan he’ll be riding the pine tonight as Coach Nolan rolls the dice with Wade Dubielewicz versus the Rangers.

Islanders coach Ted Nolan made the boldest decision of his two-season tenure this morning when he announced backup Wade Dubielewicz will be in net against the Rangers tonight at Nassau Coliseum with franchise player Rick DiPietro fresh and ready to go on the bench.

I wonder how short Doobie’s leash will be tonight.

I don’t have a problem with this. Dubie has played well the last two games. Giving DP an extra day to get his head right makes sense. To CT’s point tho, I’m sure the leash will be pretty short.

    1) Any Isles fans think that maybe the honeymoon with Nolan and Snow is over? Just a thought: After Snow mentioned that DiPietro would start Thursday (but it was the coaches decison) that maybe Nolan figured he would assert that authority by having Dubie start last night?
    2) Missing 2 games for personal reasons is already quite a hole to fill, but to ask your team to play 3 strait without its MVP is a tall order, especially when its not due to injury. Nolan erred in our opinion. To win, you have to have your best play their best. At the very least you have to have your best, PLAY!
