C’Mon C’Mon C’Mon

October 9th, 2008 by Tom

So Def Leppard is going to rock out and play the NHL’s official season opener (sorry Rangers) in Detroit tonight. Def Leppard. I liked these guys a lot when I lived in the 80s. But wait, the NHL has a little 90s juice in there, too, with Alanis Morissette (a Canadian!) playing via a live feed from Montreal. So, to review - the NHL selected Def Leppard and Alanis Morissette over pretty much any relevant current band. The NFL has been doing it for years. Now the NHL has its own piece of the lameness.

C’Mon C’Mon C’Mon
. I fear the song is going to live in my head for a while. Crap.

The Isles are going with the 90’s vibe - Seven Mary Three (of “Cumbersome” fame) will be performing at the home opener. I’d take Def Leppard over those guys…

I’d say the Isles got royally screwed on that one. Still, Seven Mary Three has to be better than American Idol alumn and Islander fan Kevin Covais, right?

The powers that be got rid of Glitter because fans were chanting “YOU SUCK” after the Hey. Because quasi-offensive chants from the crowd are our biggest concern. I can’t stand this one myself. Hopefully it doesn’t last too long.

The fact that Glitter is a convicted pedophile didn’t help matters either.

I really hope they change it back. So what if we chant Hey!…you suck! What about if you know the rangers SUCK clap your hands, or the chicken dance???

If you want gary glitter’s rock and roll pt 2 to return to the coliseum, please send the isles game ops department an email citing your frustration! Go to islanders.nhl.com then under the tab FAN ZONE, go down to NYI Fan Q&A the click on Ask Game Ops.
