Actually, Zetterberg has only won 1 Stanley Cup, he joined the Red Wings in 2002-03 season, the year after the Wings won the cup that year.

DP was a good goalie (and will hopefully be again) with potential for excellence, but why oh why did Mad Mike ever trade Luongo except for the ego masturbation of being the first GM to draft a goalie first overall?

I'm sorry to rip off that huge scab. I know I shouldn't live in the past, but I'm an Islander fan, dammit.

As long as the NYIs keep making questionable (dubious? doubtful? idiotic?) decisions regarding their goaltending, I'm forced to live in the present, too.

Is it time for DiPietro to renegotiate or is it time for the Isles to open the contract and lop off a decade?

Just kidding, of course. Renegotiating contracts is a one-way street.

Break up the Islanders! Actually, that will happen to some extent.

While the current streak is a true testament to the coach, veteran leadership, youthful enthusiasm and some terrific goaltending from whoever (DiPietro excluded) who's been between the NYI pipes this season, Garth has a chance to transform a veteran asset or two into some future from somebody else's roster.

Let's snag Tavares and be up-and-coming holy terrors in three years. We've waited this long -- we can wait a little longer, eh?

1) We find it amusing how these LONG deals are now fine and dandy, but when Wang/the Isles do them they are insane! LOL
2) The deal in Detroit makes sense for them. Like the deal in NY made sense for the isles. We wouldn't have done either(or any contract greater than 5 years) but that's just our opinion.
3) There are ways of getting out of long term deals, and no one knows what the future CBA (after 2011) will look like. Also IF Dipietro's numerous injuries become chronic and he's forced to retire early the team both won't have the salary on their cap, and some will be paid by insurance.

Obviously we need to invest in a good back up. Can our defense be upgraded?

I hear you. I wouldn't mind a line-up that had 4 under 30 guys, hell under 28 guys, on each line.
