Coliseum Open House Tonight

October 2nd, 2007 by murph

After the success of last season’s “Select-A-Seat” Open House, the Islanders are running the event again tonight from 6-8:30pm at the Coliseum. Meet some Islanders old and new, check out the locker room, and then pick out some season tickets - it’s an event/experience I highly recommend. Heck, I recommend going just for the chance at free Van Halen tickets!

The Islanders are hosting a Select-A-Seat Open House on Tuesday, October 2 from 6-8:30 pm at Nassau Coliseum. Fans coming to look at seat locations for full or partial season ticket packages will not just have the best available seats shown to them by an Islanders ticket representative, but also enjoy the following:

* Tour the Islanders’ locker room at Nassau Coliseum

* Special surprise Islanders player appearances

* Chances to win autographed Islanders merchandise and tickets to upcoming Coliseum shows, including Van Halen, Disney On Ice – High School Musical and WWE!

You can get Islanders partial season ticket plans with as few as 7 games. There are also 14 game and 21 game plans if you need more Orange and Blue in your life.

Islanders 2007-08 Promotions Schedule

September 24th, 2007 by murph

Who doesn’t love free Islanders schwag? Hats, T-Shirts, bobbleheads and more. There are four different hat nights, which means four chances for an Islander player to net a hat trick and make it rain like Pac-Man Jones in Vega$. Hat Tricks on free hat night are the best!

New Islanders Commercial and Free Tickets

September 12th, 2007 by murph

The Islanders marketing machine has kicked into gear. This year’s slogan is “Islanders Hockey: Make it a Habit!” and they’ve posted a new commercial featuring Coach Nolan to YouTube.com.

[ev type="youtube" data="JVj98JPSSXk"][/ev]

Also the Islanders will be giving away a pair of Opening Night tickets everyday at NewYorkIslanders.com. Click here to signup for your chance to win.

Over the next 28 days, the Islanders will hold daily contests at newyorkislanders.com with the prize consisting of two free Islanders tickets to Opening Night on Saturday, October 6th at 7pm. That means for every one of the upcoming 28 days, you have the chance to walk away with your very own invitations to Opening Night on Saturday, October 6th at 7pm, at the Nassau Coliseum, which is sure to be a classic against the rival Sabres.

Be sure to read the fine print, you’re allowed 1 entry every 24 hours.

Contest Description: Starting at 5pm on Saturday, September 8th, we will give out a pair of tickets every 24 hours until Friday, October 5th (28 days). You may only enter once per 24-hour period (5pm - 5pm), and must fill out the form completely to be eligible. Any incomplete or duplicate entries will be disqualified from the contest for that day. Winners will be notified within 24 hours, or on the following Monday (for Saturday and Sunday drawings). Delivery of tickets will be arranged at time of notification.

Bag of Pucks/Site Update

September 12th, 2007 by murph

No we have not forsaken you, fellow Islanders fans. We are still here, alive and well. Here’s the latest news:

  • I scored tickets to the Season Opener and Al Arbour night via Ticketmaster.com on Sunday. The Opener seats are obstructed view, but the Al Arbour night seats were a little better. If you are looking for tickets to these two games, hurry up!
  • Following in Garth Snow’s footsteps from last year, backup goalie Mike Dunham has retired and joined the Islanders as a goaltending coach.
  • The Islanders and Bruins swapped prospects, the Isles sending Petteri Nokelainen to the Bruins for center Ben Walter and a second-round pick in 2009.
  • Alexei Yashin has headed to Russia, but Carol Alt is still in the good ol’ US of A - hanging out at NYC lounges with Rangers’ goalie Henrik Lunqvist. Another tough loss for Alexei, she’s old enough to be Henrik’s mom!
  • New Bossy Auction on NHL.com. Bid on a signed 8×10″ photo of The Boss celebrating his 9 straight 50 goal seasons.
  • And finally the big exciting news, Islanders training camp opens in just 2 days! You can read camp previews over on NewYorkIslanders.com for the defense, forwards, and goalies.

With the Islanders’ updates out of the way, let’s update you on the site. While the Islanders head to training camp this weekend to sweat, practice, work hard, and live in dorms again…the Islanders Army staff is headed to Vega$ to gamble, drink, and generally live it up for 4 days. Other than some Vega$ odds, I wouldn’t expect any posts from us from Friday until Tuesday. When we return, we will get the site back in gear for the regular season.

The updates around here have been few and far between, that is due to a combination of lack of Islanders news and a lot of personal issues. I took advantage of the lack of news to put Islanders Army on the back-burner and take care of other stuff. I apologize to our readers and promise that we will be bringing you as much, if not more coverage of the Islanders this season as we did last year (500+ posts).

I’ll see you all in the NVMC Parking Lot on 10/6/07!

First Half Tickets On Sale This Weekend

September 7th, 2007 by murph

Just a reminder, tickets for the first half of the Islanders 2007-08 season home games go on sale tomorrow morning starting at 11am at the Coliseum Box Office. The Islanders have lots of festivities planned.

Starting at 11 am on Saturday, tickets to a number of unforgettable games which are sure to sell out go on sale. Opening night, Kids Opening Day, two games against the Rangers and Al Arbour #1500 are among the games expected to hit capacity almost immediately, so grab a pair of tickets on Saturday before you miss out.

If there is one thing Rick DiPietro and the Islanders learned last season, it’s that every game matters – from Game 1 to 82. Ted’s Islanders will be ready right out of the gates, and Saturday is the day to get your tickets.

When single-game tickets for Islanders home games for the first half of the 2007-08 season go on sale, Garth Snow, Ted Nolan, Bruno Gervais, Wade Dubielewicz and Richard Park will be at the box office meeting fans at random times throughout the morning. It’s just another reason to get to the Coliseum box office before 11 am, when tickets for many high-demand games go on sale. The line will start forming early in the morning, so arrive early if you want to have the first pick.

Tickets will be available online at Ticketmaster.com Sunday morning beginning at 11am.

Remaining tickets after the Coliseum box office exclusive sale will be available through ticketmaster.com and charge by phone (631) 888-9000 on Sunday, Sept. 9 beginning at 9:00 am.

I have to work that Saturday afternoon. If Opening Day and Al Arbour night sellout, I’m going to be annoyed.

Isles Partial Season Ticket Packages

July 27th, 2007 by murph

Yesterday the Islanders called me on the phone, surprisingly it had nothing to do with this site or all the photos and stories we’ve “borrowed” from the official site. It was one of their account managers, calling to let me know that partial season ticket packages were now available. That info is still not on the official website, so I figured I would share it with fans here.

Isles Offer $10 Kids’ Season Tickets

June 26th, 2007 by murph

While it is sometimes difficult to understand Islanders owner Charles Wang’s hockey related moves and his fascination with double-digit long contracts, one thing that is clear is his desire to lower ticket prices and fill the stands at the Nassau Coliseum every night. Last season the Islanders offered numerous partial season ticket plans of various lengths and there was also the $19 Havoc Zone seats for many games. Those efforts, along with an improved Islanders team and a return to the NHL playoffs, resulted in a slightly improved attendance figure over 2005-06.

For next season, it appears the Islanders are making a strong push to encourage more families to come out to the games and cheer on the Islanders. First there was the announcement last week that weekday games would start at 7:05pm again. Yesterday, the Islanders announced new $10 season tickets for kids 12 and under along with a new family section at the Nassau Coliseum.

In their continued efforts to make New York Islanders games the premier destination for Long Island families, the Islanders are offering a season ticket for young fans that will cost just $10 a game.

“The NYI365 KIDS SEASON PASS came about after (owner) Charles Wang made it clear to us in our off-season meetings that our organization has three primary goals,” said Chris Dey, Islanders Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Operations. “Our goals are for Islanders games to be the number one entertainment option for Long Island families, to pack the Coliseum for every game and - it goes without saying - to bring the Stanley Cup back to Long Island.”

The one-of-a-kind NYI365 KIDS SEASON PASS gives youngsters 42 games of the best Rick DiPietro, the Islanders and the NHL have to offer - including 4 games of Sidney Crosby and the Penguins, 4 games against the Rangers and 4 games each against the Devils and the Flyers.

Islanders fans ordering one full Islanders adult season ticket at the club’s already discounted prices can reserve the seat next to them for a child 12 years and younger for the 2007-08 season for just $420. Tickets are currently available in designated family sections comprised of lower level seats at the Coliseum.

“We applaud the Islanders for an innovation that encourages families and young people to attend our games,” said NHL commissioner Gary Bettman. “This initiative presents an opportunity to share the excitement of National Hockey League action with even more fans.”
